The American Red Cross responds to an emergency every 8 minutes, averaging 65,000 disasters every year. The majority of the disasters they respond to are house fires.  In addition to providing home fire relief, the American Red Cross also provides tornado and flood relief.  

Michigan 211 is a search engine to help you find assistance with housing, food, clothing, household goods, utilities, and transportation. By entering what you need assistance with and your zip code, you will be given a list of organizations close to you that can provide help.

MCREST provides men, women, and children experiencing homelessness with a safe place to stay and the personalized support needed to rebuild their lives. They provide comprehensive case management, life-skills coaching, employment and housing assistance, and a Learning & Resource Center.

Detroit Rescue Mission Ministries provides services ranging from emergency shelter to job training. They assist those who are addicted to drugs and alcohol toward their goal of obtaining sobriety. They help teen mothers finish high school and learn critical parenting skills. They help those recently released from prison obtain employability skills, and find housing and gainful employment. 

Motor City Mitten Mission provides assistance through outreach – providing meals, clothing, blankets, personal care products, mats and pillows as well as facilitate services by other local organizations.
